JD 1070 Stuck Clutch

My 1070 clutch appears to be stuck after setting idle for over a month. I have found on my older tractors that blocking the clutch pedal and periodically hitting the starter when in gear that will break them loose. Problem is I cannot hit the starter when in gear on this tractor. I see there is a neutral start switch and a neutral start relay in the system Where are they and are they easily accessed? Which do I need to disable and how?
Is there another way to hit the starter with the transmission in gear to jolt the clutch free? Any ideas or experience here?

With a pretty heavy draft load attached to the drawbar and the drawbar in the lowest position, you'll probably be able to start the engine when you're in the seat, clutch pedal depressed, gear shift lever in neutral, range lever in high range. Then with the clutch pedal still depressed, engine at idle speed, slip (as in force) the gear shift lever briskly (as in hard and fast) into high. Warning, the tractor may start to move immediately even though the clutch pedal is depressed. However, you might get lucky and the clutch will pop free right then. If not, see if pulling a heavy heavy load, clutch pedal depressed, will pop the traction clutch free.

Before you tear up anything....get a couple of brake cleaning cannisters and spray up into area...let it set, then hit it again.....I bet it will release....

I've had good luck doing what the 8N guys do. Get it out in an open area. Start it up get and get it in a high gear by shifting trucker style. Hold down the clutch pedal or wire it down ahead of time. Hang on ! be prepared to counter steer, and then push on JUST ONE BRAKE pedal and then the other. This jerking motion breaks them free.

It starts good when in neutral and even starts to slowly crawl when pushing the shift lever in any gear but I have not been able to get into gear by pushing on the lever. I have not tried to really force it "trucker style". I wish there was an easy way to crank the engine with the clutch blocked and in gear. I still would like to bypass the neutral start switch to just tap the starter when in gear to break it loose like I do on older tractors without a neutral start switch or one easily disabled.
Looking at the wiring diagram it looks like I should be able to open the connection at the starter motor to the neutral start relay and put a jumper wire from the battery directly on the starter at the connection opened to the starter. This should bypass the neutral start relay and close the solenoid at the starter causing it to crank. Anything wrong with this? I don't want to mess up any expensive electrical components!

Just bypass the safety switch for now but make SURE you are sitting in the seat when you try it ! and hook it back up later.

(quoted from post at 11:08:33 07/01/15) How do you bypass the safety switch.....the easiest way.

IMHO it is opening up a "possible legal liability" to explain how to bypass any safety device!!!!!!!!

Please try blocking clutch pedal down & getting tractor up to operating temp.

This is one of those times I wish I could reach threw the computer and get er done ! I'd of had you up and going hours ago if it is indeed just stuck. Did an 850 for the neighbor. He dropped it off and in no time at all I drove it back to his house. He could not believe it. Dealer wanted a BUNCH of money to fix it. LOL.
I am not familiar with the lay out of the 1070 to know where the switch is either. I think I did the 850 by starting it idleing it back to almost dead then put in gear and go.

I whole heartedly agree that starting tractor in gear, depressing clutch, independently stomping brake pedals has successfully unstuck some clutch plates. BTDT

But my described method has also worked to unstick a clutch. BTDT.

To me it's a choice of which is safer for person doing it??

I won't be purchasing any used equipment from you.
