Front End Wobble "B"

Sure it has been asked many times before but once again any suggestions on curing or at least slowing down front end wobble on Late B? General cost of applying the suggested cures?

Pre-power steering NFE tractors usually wobble due to worn components unless something has worked loose. If the bolster bearings are worn and not designed to tighten to reduce slack that can be expensive. Worm gears and sector gears can be expensive. I can not see your tractor to know what you have going on but I would bet there are wear issues and they will eat a few hundred dollars if they are extensive. But before you worry about that just look in every nook and make sure no bolt or nuts have come loose.

If you take the steering gearbox apart there is an eccentric bushing under the gear that can be rotated to bring the gear and worm closer together but then it will most likely bind when turning as the gear and worm are worn in the straight ahead position. Very little noticeable wear on the gear can cause a lot of wobble.

My 50 wobbled real bad on hard surfaced roads. One of the Rollamatic arms was bent. Each wheel was wanting to go a different direction. I put another arm on it - no wobble. Then, yours may be a wide front.

Try adjusting the eccentric bushing as described, or try reducing the air pressure in one front tire and see if that helps.
