Tractor has been running fine. Started it up to move some bales of hay, left it idling. Strange fast tempo ticking like sound coming from front of tractor near hydraulic pump. When using the loader or 3-point, slow movement with some minor jerking. Still had the poop to lift the bales, just slow, with the strange sound. Steering seemed fine, which is strange. Shut it down. Start it up in a few minutes, no sound, everything normal. Good quick movement on loader and 3-point. BTW, loader is plumbed properly.
While it was making the noise, looked into the hydraulic cap, no spraying occurring. Can the stroke control valve get in a state where it is stuck on? Is there a filter that needs to be cleaned? If so, where is it located? I did the sump screen last spring and it was not that bad.
