630 Wico distributor

Was a Wico distributor on a 630 very common? All I ever see is Delco. My 630 has a Wico. Tractor was bought new by my dad and the ignition has never been messed with. As I understand Pertronics does not make a breaker less ignition for a Wico unless something has changed.
 
I'd say VERY RARE ! Should be able to find a delco reasonable to drop right in there if needed.
 
Ran into one a few years ago when I was tuning up a guys tractors before his auction. Worst part the guys place was 30 miles from my place. I will have to look at my 630 tonight to see what it has. chris
 
Whenever I get the Wico points from Deere they have them in stock but I don't know how many other Deere engines had Wico. I definitely do have to specify Wico or they will give me Delco. This tractor has always started first or second time up and runs fine so at the moment I don't plan on changing anything but you never know what the future holds. Keeping original parts on it is kind of important to me just for the fact it is a tractor dad bought new.
 
Maybe they are the same as for a mag ? Or else they keep them in stock all these years just for your tractor ???
 
I don't know. This is a later 630, shipping date of 1-07-60, maybe Deere was cleaning the shelves. The points probably fit other Wicos but I would think this particular distributor would be unique to numbered series two bangers but who knows?
 
A 620 and 630 should share most all the parts but hood and steering shaft.
Dist. should also fit 520-530 or gas 720-730 but may not be totally correct for advance ?
 
I've read somewhere that approximately 1 out of 100 production 20 and 30 series tractors left the factory with Wico Distributors rather than
the common Delco...I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but seems like the reason was to fulfill a contractual obligation.


Personally I've only ever seen a hand full of the Wico distributors on the 20 and 30 series tractors.
