Old greased parts '37 A

In my '37 JD A steering box, there is a lot of old grease in there from over the years. I'm getting a new worm gear bearing and I will pack that full of grease. Is it advised that I can leave the rest of the steering pedestal alone and after just pump it full of new grease with a gun? Or should I go through it and clean all the assembly out? What works best for cleaning it out?

What about the same for the front wheel hubs and bearings?

Thanks,
Robert

If you're a jockey just wanting to pass it along you could do that. I woulden't. BTW - IF you're talking about chassis grease from a grease gun on a worm gear you'd be better off filling it with sawdust and calling it good. 00grease is as heavy as you can go without it pushing away and running dry.JMO
