Replacing hydraulic pump on old 310A John Deere backhoe

I have removed the pump and having it rebuilt. Is there anything that I should do after replacement and refilling the fluid before I start the tractor or after like bleeding out air at some point? If so where? Thanks for any info.

I like to run the tractor for a few minutes without the drive coupler on the pump to pre lube the pump. You could just pour oil in the top fitting to fill the pump.

What was wrong with the old pump? Has the manual destroker been added. Handy for cold weather starts or if the batteries are low.

do not know what a manual destroker is but I removed the pump because fluid was coming out of the drive shaft while running. Started out as a drip and got progressively worse, 4 gal. after eight hours running. Still waiting for return of repaired unit. Hope they can find whatever is needed for repair.

Destroking screw(parts key 6) is what b&d was referring to.
