holes on a LA

Anybody have any idea what these might be for? Or were they farmer add ons?

The holes on the left side is where my voltage regulator is mounted on the inside. Don't know about the right side but have the same holes.
 
Well Now I'm going to have to go look at mine and see what they are like. LOL.
I do know mine have 2 different style of hoods one is spot welded seems and the other gas welded with no seem. Yours looks welded too with no seem ?
 
My LA with spot welded seems does not have those holes. Mike M do you think that is a hood that came off a tractor that had the hydraulic sickle bar mower on it? Didn't that bolt to the hood in about that same position? I of course can't find a good picture at the moment.
 
Not sure ? I remember seeing one with the hyd. lift and it also had a hole thru the back left corner for the pump driveshaft to go thru. IIRC ?
 
Don't know what they mounted there ? Good conversation starter for sure. Neither of mine have those holes.
I looked at images of LI with the hyd. and that mounts above the belt pulley with a bracket and none of these holes either.
