How many '60's operating

Just wondering; how many folks are still operating a Model 60, and not messing around with them like some guy with tracks and 4WD. ;^)

There are a few around here that I haven't lured into the laboratory......I know they made a "bunch" of them.

I have one. I need to replace the radiator core on it as it leaks, but it runs great and has the power steering, live hydraulics, and live pto features. Love that tractor!

I was kinda planning on a collection of just "60's",,in their various options to show after I retire...Since I was raised on one I have a liking for them...and the music they make..

I have a 1953 typical row crop, repainted last Summer w/full 3 point w/ top link. Great Tractor ! Just used for Shows and parades. Have a back blade when the snow in N.E. Ohio gets to heavy for the Snow Blower.

I have a 1955 60 I use weekly to move feed from the feed room to bulk bins by the chicken barns. I also use it around the farm to pull lighter loads.

Use my 60 to pick corn with 227 picker.

I have a RC pretty much all original, no ps, but i have a unit to put on it. I have a low seat standard without ps but hydraulics and pto and a 60 orchard, again, no ps, but hydraulics and pto, its a little bit more of a mystery because it seems to have an aftermarket propane carb on it, but i think was originally an all-fuel tractor. I would like to get a high seat standard one of these days...if the right one came along haha

on the farm, both were used today, just like everyday.. Very early 1953 with early style wheels
& solid pedistal. And a 1954 with a a/m wide front.

I have a 56 with power steering. It was the first new tractor my Dad bought. In nice shape but has a really noisy first reduction area I need to investigate and repair. All oem just like it was in 1956.

I have a '53 60 (I have had as many as four) that sees lots of auger duty every fall. It runs a 10x61 auger flawlessly. It has "non-live" PTO that actually works better for the auger as you can engage the clutch lever from the ground without being around the PTO shaft. It will really cackle when the air gets cool. It still has a straight pipe from it's pulling days and like Tim says, the "music" is sweet. So is the glowing manifold at night... Mike

Tim:

How many are you looking for for the laboratory? Ive got a 1952 with window wheels and split pedestal, no ps or 3 point, in pretty decent shape. I haven't done anything with it since I made some repairs on it 2 years ago, pretty good shape. There are boatloads of them down this way in southeastern ohio.

That's what I'm looking for, another one with window wheels no power steering, live PTO,,This one I used for the MFWD project was restored 9 years ago in memory of the one my Dad bought new, his got traded back in 1966 to a dealer in Mechanicsburg Ohio (western Ohio) it then "may" have been sold to a jockey in Pennsylvania,,but were not sure, I have the bill of sale for her here in the shop ser# 18517 it and a 3x12 plow for $2591,,,and that was 'without' MFWD ....

Many thanks for all the replies. My '53 - 60 is retired and living in an 'in-floor' heated shop. Old Juan worked hard for me at the farm (about a million years ago). When I first got him (1971) I plowed, disced and and mowed my first crop of hay, only to discover after the 'season' it was only running on ONE. A pie shaped chunk was missing from an exhaust valve ! Fixed it, farmed another couple of years - went to the Alberta 'Building Boom', lost my shirt, lost the farm ---AHHH the memories !

I would run a search ad on this page with serial number posted for a month or so on discussion forum and classifieds wanted. You might just be surprised with what you find. It seems there are hundreds of them down here, I know of many just sitting not for sale that haven't been ran in 20 years....

I would consider selling mine, it has had a lot of work done to it, I have had it 2 to 3 years and never done anything with it since I got the repairs made to it.
