Max width disk for 620

I am restoring a 10ft RW disc for my 620. Deere advertising at the time showed what looks like a 10ft RW behind a 620. just for entertainment I hooked a 6ft 3pt disc up and it pulled it in 6th gear, couldn't even tell it was back there.

We pulled a 14' RW behind a 630 for years. The RW did have the smaller blades and we couldn't sink it clear down the first time over on spring disked fall plowing but it had already been plowed so why deep till it twice. In corn stalks the 630 had a half load in fourth gear. This is in fairly heavy Northwest Iowa soil.

Depends! Let's assume your JD is in good operating condition and producing rated horsepower and has adequate ballast and good tires. Assuming good loamy soil and disking down close to the spools with 20-22 inch disk blades in corn ground you probably could handle 10-12 foot pull type disk. In plowed ground you're better off with a 10 ft or even 8 ft if you want good forward speed. I personally would buy a 10 ft disk so you have enough power to handle varying conditions. I have never used equipment that would require every available horsepower...it is hard on the tractor and you won't be happy either.
