I can not get the starter to engage through the ign.switch. Small solonoid {located next to clutch pedal} will click, got current to small terminal but will not come through to the larger terminal that goes to starter solonoid. Have installed new solonoid {from Deere} and still have the same problem. When I cross the starter solonoid I can get it to kick in and start. I have got the neutral switch bypassed. All ground connections are good as I can tell. Anyone had this problem? How to fix?

Yes this tractor has been setting for some time, but I can get it to run by jumping the solonoid on top of the starter.

The starter is Nepandenso {not Delco}

All help appreciated.

Thanks

When you state solenoid(parts key 6) by clutch are you referring to the one in the photo? If so be sure it's getting a good ground connection.

I am referring to #6 solonoid. I have cleaned all grd.conections that I know could be causeing this problem.

Thanks

How much voltage are you getting to the exciter wire on solenoid 6#? You need at least 9 volts.

I did shine up all metal parts and will double check.

Is there suppose to be current at top post of #6 all the time and then current to center post when key switch is activated to throw current to bottom post which has the stater solonoid wire to in order to activate starter?

Thanks

Check the resistance on all battery cables, We just had this problem on a 69 3020. Cables looked good but had two bad ends. Check for a good ground on transmission case. I have moved the ground connection from a top cover bolt to a battery box support bolt. On these 50-60 year old machines, poor ground is a major problem.

Good Luck

Jim

Yes that's correct.

Got it fixed. As expected-bad wire to small solonoid on top. Works now as it is supposed to.

Thanks a lot Tx Jim. Great help.

I work on many makes and model tractors and it is hard to keep up let alone remember everyting about them. I do have IT manuals but they are mainly basic,so I rely on this tool{YT Forum} to help me out as I know someone on here has had this same problem at some time or another.

Again,

Thanks,cuby
