John Deere G Main Bearings

I have a 1952 John Deere G that I recently did a quick rebuild on. At the time we didn't pull the crankshaft out or look at the main bearings. Now that the tractor is running well, I would like to go back and take a look at the main bearings. This is my first two cylinder JD rebuild......will the main bearings be babbit or insert style? What type of clearance do I need to maintain? Finally, as long as I don't have to re-grind the crankshaft main journals, will I be able to remove and work on the main bearings without removing the crankshaft?

The change to insert main bearings was at s/n 63384.
Insert Rod bearings, s/n 63925.
Last "G" was s/n 64530 Feb. 19, 1953.

The "G"s that I have worked on had insert type main bearing ,with a laminated shim pack. Serial number 63338 & up might have been all full round bearing. They offered the full round brg, in the earlier years for replacement. Some people claimed to break main bolts, but I never saw one.
