M front spindle-hubs-wheels question

just seeing if y'all can save me some wasted time.
Got a M with the hubcap style front wheels.
They were loaded and need some cleanup and new tubes.
I have some MT and 40T lug style front hubs and wheels laying around.
Will they fit the M spindles?
If they will, the tractor can be mobile while I do the work on the originals.
Could try it myself, but I know someone here will know
and save me some work if they won't fit.
Thanks

Take a look at the diagrams below.

Note the front wheel hub (Key 11) for the M, MI, and MT and the front wheel hub (Key 9) for the Model 40T are exactly the same.

Take a look at the diagrams below.

Note the spindle and knuckle assembly (Key 26) and the spindle and knuckle assembly (Key 25) have different part numbers, but appear to be exactly the same.

The only difference visible in the diagram is there are splines at the top of Key 25.

Hope this helps.

I do assume that he is refering to the cast wheels that were used on the early M's... I also assume that these cast wheels were left overs from the LA's...I honestly don't know if a Hub will go on the spindle that was used with the cast wheels.

by its serial number my JD M should have stamped not cast wheels. It has the cast wheels and I always assumed someone swapped the whole front end. Now I'm not so sure. Bill

Thanks for the info so far.
Yes, cast wheels....loaded with calcium.
Right one has had a leak and I gotta get that tire and tube off and get that rust cleaned up
Serial number says early 1950.
I have enough old tractors to know anything and everything
could have been changed.
I can say that they have been on there a very long time :)

again, appreciate the info. I'll get to it soon.
hoping I could just pull it in the shop, swap em and get it out,
rather than having to block it up in the yard somewhere out of the way if the hubs wouldn't fit.
