620 Generator

My generator went bad on my 620, I have one that was taken off my 4010 when I upgraded to an alternator just wondering if it will fit on the 620, the part numbers are not the same. Thanks

When you converted the 4010 to alternator, did you also convert from 24 volt to 12 volt? question is was 4010 generator 24 volt? if so would not work on 620, otherwise should work, might take some adapting and depends if you want to stay "correct". I would think the 620 would be pretty easy to convert to an alternator also.

If the 4010 was a 12v gasser and if the genny spins at approximately the same speed on the 620 as it did on the 4010 and if it fits in the 620 brackets and if the skinny 620 pulley will fit it I don't see why it won't work. If it spins the right direction and has a matching VR it doesn't care what tractor it is in. But like ET said, why not rebuild the old one. You might get lucky with a simple set of brushes and commutator cleaning.

Looked at them tonight, not sure but think I can take the top end cover off and swap with the 620 because the bolt
brackets are different, the original 620 one is shot. They should switch? The 4010 was a diesel. They start on 24
volts but if I remember right they all generate all little over 12 volts output if reg.is set right. Just trying to say some
money and the old one was sitting in the shop. I will post update ....thanks
