John Deere 1020 Hydraulic Problems Oil Change

Still working on getting the 3 point lift working. But going to do a proper hydraulic oil fluid change. Is there a way to get all the old fluid out. Noticed the old fluid is red looking. And only about 6 gallons drains out. It should hold 10. So how to get it all out?

It's very difficult to get all the oil out of lines & pumps without the risk of damaging the pumps. 6-7 gallons is about a normal hyd drain on a JD utility tractor.

Some oils were red. It will take multiple changes.
The red oil won't hurt you as long as there is no water.
If there is no oil I would get the lift working first.

Okay, guess it can be changed. Used for a while
and changed again. Even if the lift doesn't get fixed
right away it can still be used. Got a finish mower
and 307 gyramor that don't need the lift. Still I'll get
it working or else! LOL

Oh, that is right on time. Got the one near the filter. Going to go look for the other?!!? Thanks

More dirty with a red tint. The previous owner had a note saying it was changed in 03. No water. Starting to think the pump is needing attention. Going to plug a gauge in the remote. Then just use the tractor till I have time to deal with the pump.

Found it. It was under a bracket and you had to drop the bracket to get to the drain plug. So guess it had a front blade and that plug never got pulled. Now we getting somewhere. That was some nasty oil. The bracket was just in the way for bush hogging. So it is going on the scrap pile.

Check/clean sump screen(parts key 15) while you have oil drained. Ser L/D lever under the seat in "D".

Before tossing the bracket it maybe a good idea to find out what it's used for. On occasion people have thrown out pieces of Unatainium.

It is on the pile but not going anywhere yet.
Wondering what the tractor had attached to it. It had
that bracket. And had a couple brackets on the front
axle. The turf tires are making me think it could
have had a belly mower.
