Replacing radiator core

I'm putting a new core in my late A , wondering if its best to go together dry or does anyone use sealant with gaskets?

Depends on how rough the tank parts are. If they are pretty heavily pitted I would use some silicone with the gasket. Use "Right Stuff" brand. It is expensive but will do the job.

Thanks. Not too much pitting. I would guess a little sealant goes a long way, would hate to get any in the tubes.

Permatex #2 hands down, stays plyable and is just the ticket. Use this on water pumps, radiator cores and all water/coolant gaskets, half dozen radiators and no leaks. chris

On the paper gaskets such as the ones for your radiator I have used gun grease for years to soften the gasket. No leaks yet and no concern over plugging. Also makes it much easier to take apart if needed later. Mike
