Can someone explain to me how the oil pressure gauge on 1954 John Deere R how does the electric portion of the gauge work it is alive on one side until pressure is there on start up but the output side has a wire not connected to any thing but looks like it would go to a dash light which is not present is it a warning light as this empty wire is not connected to the light switch Thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Output from the oil pressure switch goes to the hour meter. Since there is no ignition on an R, the lack of oil pressure when engine is not running opens the circuit to the hour meter.
