953 wagon wheel

Hi Folks,
I just picked up an early 953 wagon gear. Nice shape, tight steering and not beat up. Even has useable matching tires. Only problem is one wheel is wrong. They even used a torch to enlarge the bolt holes. I downloaded parts lists from John Deere and I think I've identified the correct wheel. It looks like a JD1067 16 x 4 wheel. It was used on 952 and some 953 gears. I has 6 lug holes and 3 more evenly spaced holes in lug circle. Does anyone have one or a source for one. I wouldn't consider taking this down the road with load of hay with this mess of a wheel.
Thanks Chuck

You should be able to find a matching rim but if you can't, believe it or not John Deere still has them available. I am in the process of restoring an early (-1955) 953 wagon myself. It had 3 different rim types on it at purchase. Be sure to match rim width. I have 16 X 6 rims on mine. By the way, NEW rims were $156. each. Good luck.

The RIM you describe with the 3 extra holes was orig intended for use on a tractor as the 3 extra are for mounting WHEEL weights such as B-2016R

Chuck,

I should have 3 available in a couple weeks. Changing tire size and getting different aftermarket rims. Reply if interested.

Chuck : If it looks like this wheel, I"d have at least one....

Thanks for the replies folks. I took a couple pics to help with the identity. Hopefully I can post them here.

OK having a hard time with the pics.

green northern lights that bolt pattern looks correct. Not sure about the diameter. Mine have 16" tires and the center hole is 4.5"

Funny how the common thread here seems to be buying used gear with mismatched rims/tires. I just put a deck on a JD gear I bought a couple of years ago with four different rim/tire sizes.

Chuck : rim in your pic looks to me to be JD 1232 , which is Sub. # for JD 1067; [pc-846 in JD parts.com] ...... I think I have one of those also , My e-mail is open , [classic view ]

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread. But I still need a wheel. My first cut hay is in and I would like to get this wagon ready for the second cut.
Thanks
Chuck
