The original subject was "Re: john deere 8630 no hydraulics".

after all the adhd talk on here and needlessly wasting money listening to wanna be mechanics,,we found out at john deere the pump never was the problem, and none of the other stuff on here,it was simply bad brakes, see they were coming apart, and repeatedly clogging up filters,in the bottom of sump, and transmission housing,so I guess I spent about 3500.00 too much for the pump parts I put in this tractor, pump was always working ,but wasn't picking up because of clogged filters repeatedly,,red took great care of it at john deere in kenedy texas because I simply didn't have the time I needed, thanks red for all of the good help done on this machine,i really got steered off course hearing all kinds of thoughts, but its gonna be ok now I think, will run it Friday night if dry

As Tims says. It's pretty grim when you could not follow simple trouble shooting steps. You missed the very basic fundamentals of finding the plugged sumps, pickups and filters.

Hi if you can't follow the basic diagnostics and just threw parts at it thats not these guys problem. And to be totally honest I know Deere mechanics, employed in dealerships currently, That have no experience with older stuff that these guys here do have, given good information.
I wouldn't trust some of the newer guys locally to find holes in donuts . you got lucky finding a guy still in a dealership that didn't just throw parts at it to. it can work that way when guys post here that Deere spent $10.000 of their money, and it's still not right. !!!!!.

Thanks for posting back, even if you are being a heckerped about it, I have been wondering how that all turned out.

On the other hand, TimS and I (and probably others) repeatedly told you to check all three screens and I don't recall you ever telling us you found them clogged with debris.

Us "wannabe mechanics" simply can't help you if you don't forward all the information/observations of what troubleshooting has been done.

Mindreading over the 'net is WAY beyond my skill set!

And (IIRC), I believe I told you NOT to spend the $$$ on a new transmission/clutch pump on an unsubstantiated whim!

I'm glad you got your tractors problem resolved.

It's very difficult to see into an "Internet Crystal Ball" especially if it's clouded with insufficient diagnostic/testing information. Ditto what Roger Major stated as there are some very knowledgeable YT members that post on this forum about JD tractors. I wish this forum had been available way back when I was a JD dealer service manager as I learned a lot from the members since I've been a member.

Not that I know anything about what went on with this original post but TxJim, Tim, B&D, and many others have helped me out ALOT this year and one of the first things is always, change fluids, check filters and screens, make sure you got the right fluid. I AM a novice mechanic on new gen JD's and I am very thankful I don't have to pay my local dealer to do the work everyone on here has helped me with. I wouldn't get a pay check if I had to pay someone to do the work for me.
