my nephew snapped off the brass fitting for the fuel return line on my 1966 diesel 4020 , this fitting has some sort of baffle stopper ,, 6 days from now i can have it , deere wants over 40 bux including shippin , ,, can I simply get a similar brass fitting less the baffle stopper from my hardware corner ? . Thanx Guys .. I could have her running today,, what are the consequences ?

I have seen them run for several years like that, I'm sure there is a reason for the check valve being there, but they seem to live okay with out them..

Will have no adverse effect on tractor operation.
When they clog I always remove the check valve anyway.
Been doing it since the late sixties.
