4430 3pt hitch

I have a 4430 which I have owned for about a year. I have mostly used it to pull a
peanut combine and a pull behind sprayer. Has run fine.

I recently got a 200 gallon sprayer that mounts on the tractor. I filled it about half
full with water while calibrating and all worked fine.

When I filled it full the tractor/3 pt hitch Jumped up and down...and I could only hold
it steady with the arms fully raised.

I tried different positions of the Rockshaft Selector lever with no effect. I have not
fiddled with the Rockshaft drop adjustment on the back of the tractor.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

1st and easiest thing to do is R&R rockshaft piston seal. It's also possible that the control valves are set too tight which can be adjusted by removing a plug on control housing.

The rockshaft piston seal rarely is the issue, on the side of the valve there is a plug to remove then a flat screw driver go into that hole and turn the screw counter clock wise (I think) this will give more free travel on the lever up in the cab and should help this problem, Be careful adjusting it while the tank is on there you will be in a "pinch zone".. I would set it down and shut the engine off each time I tryed to adjust tha screw to keep from getting the Bug Juice squeezed out of you...

Thanks for correcting me. Be sure big nut(parts key 44) is tight as they had a history of loosening affecting 3 pt operation. Screw to adjust for valve clearance is parts key 2.

In addition to what Tim and Jim mentioned, you will want the load and depth control in the full "minimum" setting. Otherwise, you will get a negative signal on the load and depth control causing the symptoms you describe. This is not likely the only thing wrong but is something to check. It may be you will need to go through the 3-point adjusting sequence mentioned in the service manual, too. If that adjustment is off that can also cause the symptoms you are having. Mike

Jim, Mike and Tim-
Thanks for your suggestions! I am a little lost on some of it (particularly drawing with nut #44) but have a service manual and will spend some time trying to figure the adjustments you've recommended.
Thanks!!

Nut(#44) holds shaft with an arm that adjustable link attaches to that connects to control handle to operate 3 pt(up/down) in console. If you look under right rear of cab you will see it.

Thanks again, that description points me in the right direction (re:#44) and I will check
it.
Very Helpful!
