I need to replace the clutch disc on early model 4020powershift, John Deere wants one of my lungs. I found some cheaper ones on ebay from A&I. Any thoughts??

Hy-Capacity has them for a little less than A&I (around $286 plus s&h). Most repair shops are dealers for them. Good quality USA product.

1st of all a power shift don,t have a clutch, that pedal your calling a clutch is really an inching pedal, I had a powershift for years and the only time you put your foot on it was at starting tractor. When you put your foot on it for a clutch as you call it all fluids stop flowing and than it will go out. When I would back up to something Id just bump shifter till I got hooked up.Good luck

Here's what JD calls it the the parts catalog.

Call it as you wish just keep your foot off it only to start tractor,I said the hydralic fluid stops flowing when peddle is down.Or pull out the big bucks.

Carful rick,,,I'm thinking that you don't understand what your betting on here...the dry clutch that is in question here acts as a coupler or torsion dampner for the transmission...

All that happens when inching pedal is depressed is oil flow to PS trans C1 is interrupted but PS trans pump continues to pump oil. IIRC inching pedal was described in operators manual as an aid to be used when attaching implements to tractor.

I agree with you on that, but My mechanic advised me to stay off it as much as possible so I never used it only to start tractor and I never had a problem with it.I owned it nearly 20 yrs and never had a problem, and I never would let anyone else drive it,Than last year I sold it.
