6410 pto oil leak

I have a JD 6410 that is leaking oil out around the pto shaft. I thought first it was the seal in the housing but further looking and you can see it is leaking from the inside. Is there an oring or something in there and any advice on how to fix it? Thanks.

There is an o-ring on the shifter pin inside the shaft. The pin is held in with a star type push in retainer. Drain the oil, remove the stub shaft, then pry out the retainer and remove the shift pin. Will need o-ring and retainer for sure. Check the rear end of the pin for wear and replace if there is any. Someone will post a pic.

540 rpm or 540/1000 rpm?
It is reversable. Do I have to take the entire unit off or is it fixable through the shaft hole?
Thanks!

It appears the seal can be R&R out the rear.

I think I am losing oil at the oring #24. I think that is the one Cliff N is talking about. Do I have to take off the entire housing to change that oring? From the illustration it looks like I do. I don't want to take it off if I don't have too. Thanks!

The o-ring (key 24) retainer(25) and shift pin(23) can be removed out of the hollow shaft after the stub shaft is removed. The o-ring is in a groove on the shift pin so you won't see it until you get the pin out. Can be repaired with the pto unit still on the tractor.

Housing stays on. Retainer just pushes in from the back. Just pry out the retainer and remove the shift pin. Drain the oil first.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm glad I don't have to remove the rear housing. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.

Changed the oring and the pin. Seemed to fix the problem. It was a lot easier than I anticipated. Thanks everyone for your help!
