John Deere 535 Baler will not tie automatically

My baler will tie manually if I use a rope, but will not tie automatically. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

There are 5 springs on the tie side of baler, they all must be there....Tx Jim has a picture that you might get him to post or go to

Ours did that too last summer along with
some other stuff might have been a sheared
roll pin or something else in the linkage
study every diagram you can find and you'll
get it.

Is hyd valve shifting when tailgate is closed? I've seen debris build around valve spool shaft keeping valve from shifting causing twine arm to remain in twine cutting position.

Since it sounds like everything works if it is tripped manually, I would inspect everything that is associated with the auto trip mechanism. The first thing is the lever that trips to put pressure on the belt drive pulley that runs the hyd pump.

there is a roll pin in the shaft, make sure it is not broken or missing. It will not self tie if that belt drive is not released with the bale size adjustment lever.
