This is the only photo that shows the yellow grass board in the 12 page brochure.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure they are yellow. I have a broken JD original, quite old (I kept it for a pattern to make a new one when needed) and it's the weathered wood only with JD part number stenciled on it. I suspect there were several iterations of those boards over all the years those mowers were made.

I'm sure grass boards were never yellow from factory or JD parts ;[ They were light grained Maple, with clear varnish, lacquer, or maybe late polyurethane finish . I have same '64' mower Lit. ,I'm seeing a yellow grass board stick & clear maple board,... Lit. from '67' parts cat. shows clear board , same on Lit. from '60' no.8 mower, My family bought new no.5 , in late '57' ; [no. 8 came out in '58'] in came with green board & stick. Lit. from '52' shows no. 5 with Red board,,....

After further review, I agree with [b:654c4848f0]long green line man[/b:654c4848f0].

Take a look at the diagram below.

Note the grass board (Key 13) AH 12932.

Take a look at the photos below.

Note the part stamp AH-12932-OH that is parallel to the plate (Key 12).

This grass board was used as a pattern to make a new grassboard for our 39N sickle mower.

It may not be factory, but on a working mower I'd prefer yellow paint for the visibility.
