Opinions on 2510 tractor , good bad and ugly . Don't be afraid to offend me , I have one stuck gasser with synchro transmission and decent tires . Thanks!!!!

I have a 2510 gas sincro and love it.Put an electronic ignition in it and starts at any temp. One of JD's best in my opinion!!

Well I have a 67 diesel synchro wide front and dual hyd. I have had it for 4 years. I love it. It is a handy nimble tractor. The only thing that would be better is if it were a powershift. I just bought a 67 gas synchro and am picking it up Sunday eve. I was looking for another diesel but i foulnd a 1 owner gas with wide front. I think you will like it. If you don't want to or it is not economical to fix the gas I don't believe that a swap to a 219 or 239 is very bad at all.

I have owned 10-15 different 2510's and now have a 2510 and 2520 diesel. They are a very handy tractor. I would not put much money in a gas engine but would look for a 219 or 239 diesel to put in it. I just bought a 2510 gas with a bad engine that we are going to part out rather than fix.The only bad thing is the 2510 used a four piston hyd pump that is not as good as the eight piston pump.I would not worry if the hyds is ok now but if you ever have problems do not spend any money on the little hyd pump just replace it with a used eight piston from a 3020 or 4020. I love both my 2510's and 20's. My 2510's will pull 3 x 16's in clay. There will be an issue only if it is really really heavy clay.

I did some plowing for a guy with my 2520 and 3 x 16's, it only used 5 gallons of diesel in 3.5 hours from my driveway and back. The property was quite close so not a lot of road time. That is only 1.42 gallons per hour.

I have a 2510 diesel that was bought new on our family farm in 67, I believe. Still used just about everyday. Love it. My favorite tractor. Very few problems over the years. Mostly just minor normal wear stuff.

A good tractor not a real power house.55 horsepower. I just bought one 2 years ago, it was a gas and I converted to diesel a year later because gas had a loose connecting rod. The gas was very easy starting in the winter. A diesel engine is a very easy transplant in these tractors seeing how they are Dubuque engines rather than the waterloo design like the 3010/3020. The 202/219/239/276 are very easy to find as they are used in power units/industrial and Dubuque tractors. They are somewhat rare also as there weren't a lot built, I think they are a good chore tractor.

You have an exceptional 2520 because Nebraska test shows a 2520 D will burn 4 GPM on drawbar

Yes, I did not believe it either but I had double checked my facts when I discovered this. I have run the gas versions also, they take a lot more fuel. But these diesels don't take much. Even my IH bleeds red neighbor is impressed with their fuel economy.

Keep in mind the test data presented is a maximum but I would be very surprised and disappointed if any of my 2510 or 2520 diesels came anywhere near 4 GPH based on prior experience.

Thanks. Paul
