I have 4 late As and this one is the
only one with these two threaded holes
on either side . What is the purpose
of these?

Mike M not sure if you recall but a month or so ago I posted a fuel question on this tractor that you answered. This is the one with 180# compression. I just put it together over the winter. I got along fine with 91 pump gas , no pinging. 3-14s in 3rd , pasture land plowing. About 210 on the temp gauge .

Would be nice to dial it in on a dyno. It can sure make a difference when the timing and load needle are set for max. HP under a load.
Glad the 91 worked. I know many have to go with racing gas when they bump them up for pulling. I don't know what their compression pressures are at ?

Mike I was able to have on the dyno, A&W electronic one. Was at 56 HP when I finished messing with it. Was also able to set my rpm where I wanted it, which is around 1050 under load.

That is a healthy A !

IIRC that is about what I dynode one at. It had a power block and I don't know what else. He ran high octane racing fuel or av gas like 100 octane ?

I have an outlet close by to get race gas. I'd like to try some and hit the dyno again. This is the second one I built now. First was a 52 G . I have, to me anyway, the best machinist a guy can find. He was trained on 2 cylinders by an old fellow before he retired. This kid is 25! He knows JD like the back of his hand. I have put my complete trust in what he does. We have a plan before we start, and have real good communication thru out. He even cut my babbitt rods down and installed insert bearings, his first shot was perfect. They fit like a glove. Really happy on how it turned out. I'm not really into pulling, I just use them.
