Will a valve bank from a 9250 work on a 9700 backhoe?

Hello all, I have zero knowledge on backhoes, very new to the forum and desperately need some advise. I have a John Deere JD500A with a bad valve bank for the backhoe. After months of searching for a new one, I gave up and purchased a valve bank off a 9250. It was the only six spool system that I can find. Can anyone tell if it will work? I know that the 9700 is a closed center system but have no idea what the 9250 is. If it is an open center can it can converted to a closed center? Help!

I'm also looking for an owner's manual for the backhoe. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There is a parts interchange section in the free oline JD parts book.http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePageServlet_Alt

Thanks Jim. I have a clarifying question, on my 9700 valve bank the pressure and return are both on the left side and an end plate on the right side, on the 9250, the pressure oil port is on the left side with an additional plugged port and the return oil port is on the right side. How should I plumb the hydraulic lines? Should I stay with the same configuration or should I remove the plug from the left side and install on the right side and plumb both lines on the same side? Thanks for your help.
