60 dies when warm.

When its cold. It starts right up and runs like it always does. When it works and gets warmed up it starts to miss and loss of power and then dies. It has elec. ign. I put a spark tester inline on both sides and it is still firing until the crank stops turning. Even tried new plugs. Cleaned and blown out the carb and nothing seem to be plugged. After it dies I opened the drain on the bowl and still has a good stream of gas out of it. Any ideas?

Ty, one thing that stands out from your description is that you say you have a good stream of fuel after it dies: is yours a very early 60 that has a regular fuel bowl? If not a d you have one with the automatic fuel shut off (oil lines running in and out of the top of ghe fuel bowl) then your problem may be the diaphrams in the top of the bowl: there should be no flow when the engine is not running which means if you have that type your problem is possibly in there! Two things happen; junk gets in the vanes and allows fuel to flow when it shouldnt and restricts it when it should flow, the other is that the ethanol gas eats the diaphrams (steiners claims theirs are made of resistant materials). That said I have no idea why it would happen when warm only unless you are pulling harder and just need more fuel as opposed to it being the temperature that is affecting it.
we chased a similar problem with our 70 and finally found it was the condenser but with elect. Ignition thats no your problem! Good luck!
BTW, if it is your fuel shut off diaphrams be sure to check and make sure you dont have gas in your crankcase also. Pete

It is a early 60. It just has a sediment bowl that I turn on/off by hand. I should have said that in my first post.

I say coil. Gets hot and acts up. Doesn't take too long to cool down sometimes. Is the spark bright blue and jumps 1/4" after it quits ? My $.02
