I am trying to get a JD 510 backhoe moving. I posted earlier that the inch pedal seems to be stuck but didn't get any replies. Is there a good site for old JD construction machinery?

The 510 is near the same as a 3020 power shift, the inching pedal is a valve that allows clutch oil pressure to slowly, then fully to engage the transmission...tell me a little more about what is going on with yours,,will it move at all ?/ forward or reverse??,,what speeds seem to be affected.. here is a shift chart to show what clutches/brakes are used in each function,,keep in mind that 3 functions are engaged with each speed selected..

Thanks for the reply. The history of this backhoe is that it isn't mine, but a fellow parked it on my property years ago. I move it occasionally, but never out of low gear, the brakes don't work. Last time I parked it I was putting a tarp on it and I accidentally stepped on the inch pedal. At the time I didn't even know what it was. I was able to find a simple owners manual that identified it. The put some penetrating oil on pedal shaft and the cam that the peal actuates. It's still stuck in the down position. There is also a lever that disengages the transmission at start up and that doesn't seem to want to engage in the upright position. It feels like it's binding if you try to push it up. The shaft on the inch pedal that has the cam on it is frozen in position. I was thinking of taking off the cover where the rod that disengages the transmission goes into the housing just to see if I can free it up. The lever and the pedal seem to be related. I'll post some pictures later to make this more clear.
If I lift the back up on the stabilizes the wheels will slightly turn, but not enough torque to move the machine. This machine has not been well cared for over the years. I topped up the transmission/hydraulic oil and made sure the fluids are okay. I even put in new batteries, repaired a front tire, and replaced a hydraulic line on the boom, and like I say it isn't even mine. If I can't get it rolling, I may call the scrap man!
