JD 2555 - What plow is a good match?

I have available to me a 2555 JD, two wheel drive w/diff lock & front weights at the orchard I am managing. I plan on increasing my pumpkin crop using land at the orchard which is a slight incline, roughly 3%, not stony but heavier land. The land is currently in orchard grass. I will need to buy a plow. Right now I use my JD MT on a bunch of small plots scattered about but I will be able to move entirely to the orchard, as well as double my size. I will be looking at plowing up roughly 4 acres per year. I know of a good condition Kverneland 4-14 plow for sale that is roughly 10 years old at a fair price. Would this be an equal match? I also know of a nice JD F125, 3-14 plow that has been entirely rebuilt for $1,200. This is much about half the cost of the Kverneland. Any help is appreciated.

Depends on the soil. Better with more tractor than plough. Instead of struggling, spinning and lugging.
3X14" is entirely respectable.
Drain and flush the cooling system . Refill with HD diesel concentrate and distiller water. Odds are the freeze protection is good but the corrosion inhibitor is depleted. You don't want pin holes cavitated through the sleeves.
Clean the transmission screen and change the trans filter. If there is clutch fibers, there are problems. If there is fine grey metal, it's a disaster.
If water has contaminated the transmission oil or if somebody poured in oil that is not wet clutch comparable. Trouble is brewing.

Thanks for the information. I have yet to change the trans fluid but have the filter and JD Hy-guard on hand to get it done once orchard spraying calms down and before I plow. Service records are limited on the tractor so this is something I know I want to get done before any use. Tranny on this tractor is the TSS and this is the turbo diesel version. Found that out by ordering the wrong air filter. Not sure if that changes anything with the trans information you mentioned.

I had read a bit about the cooling system issues with the sleeves on these tractors. Again, no idea when the last time coolant was changed so I will get this on the list.

Totally agree on rather having more tractor than plow.

Thanks B&D

Neighbor has a JD 2555 with a F145H 3 x 16 plow. He pulls it fine and I know he has some clay.

I have two of the 3 x 16 F145 plows, they sure plow a nice furrow. I pull mine with a JD 2520 and JD 2510 in heavy clay and hills in 3rd gear. I can do 4th gear in lighter soils.

Dad's 2550 pulls a 3x16 in the hills of Appalachia without even grunting hard. Shouldn't be a problem on a gentle slope.
