Deere up to no good

Deere is at it again, as if they weren't already getting too big for their britches-

My favorite part;

The pièce de résistance in John Deere’s argument: permitting owners to root around in a tractor’s programming might lead to pirating music through a vehicle’s entertainment system. Because copyright-marauding farmers are very busy and need to multitask by simultaneously copying Taylor Swift’s 1989 and harvesting corn? (I’m guessing, because John Deere’s lawyers never explained why anyone would pirate music on a tractor, only that it could happen.)

This is a very common practice by numerouse manufactures whether it is in the ag market, automotive, manucaturing industries, and even alot of every day stuff that we take for granit. The software is copy righted and developed exclusivlly for the OEM, by the OEM and it is priparitary to thier business. It is no different than a home PC, you can buy new hard drive online, but it does not come with all of your software that you want, therefor your forced buy the software again and again and again. I am a service tech for a world wide manufatcure of plasma and laser cutting equiment (we have eqiupment at all the Ag Manufactures around the world), we have had customers buy replacment parts else where because it was cheaper, but they learned the hard way that it does not come with the software on it becuase numerouse business usees the same hardware, but they develope the software exclussivly for there product.

You did not read the article did you! Deere wants and will get from you annual fees for software! It's coming! Why not everybody else is getting read to do it.
