45 B 2 problems

#1.. I put a kit in the carb, run good, But when I put load on in 5th gear to go down the street it acts like it is starving for fuel.
#2... When I put the kit I had a hard time getting the throttle plates back on because the felt that goes on the throttle shaft keep pressure on it... Now the throttle is hard. I am thinking of taking felt off and cut it in half to reduce the tightness.

Have you tried backing the load needle out a few more clicks to stop the stuttering under load? If so then did you set the fuel level height after the rebuild? If so then you must have a flow restriction. Should be a continuous pencil sized stream out of the carb bowl drain. Open the drain for at least 30 seconds and see what happens.

Sometimes when installing the new throttle shaft bushings they get a burr and need to be reamed to allow a satisfactory fit of the shaft.

Where did you get your kit? Is the upper shaft bushing pushed all the way in to the bore? If not there won't be enough area for the felt to fit in completely. If it is made too thick in the first place (China) it also won't go all the way down in. It needs to be soaked with oil also. Then insert shaft in to where plate slot will act as kind of a reamer for the felt and spin shaft back and forth until it gets free when all the way in. I have never had one do what you are saying so either felt is too thick or bushing is not in far enough or both. As far as the load problem, I'd say your nozzle either isn't drove up in far enough and is sucking air or it's upside down. I have seen them that way and that is what they do.

I got the kit from Steiner. This kit I got did not come with a bushing. I did notice that the brass bushing is all the way to top of carb. I will pull it off and work on it a bit. Thanks for the info.

Throw the damn felt in the trash. Cut it off & forget about it. It's not a factory part & has no value in being there. Nothing but needless trouble.

Could be your throttle plate in the carb is not centered correctly. Before you tighten the screws that hold it in place it must be centered so it doesn't drag. Same with the choke plate.
Hope this is helpful. Bob
