4020 diesel batteries

Late 4020 with two 6 volt batteries in original battery box set-up on tractor. The cables and battery service is a pain and expensive. Anyone have a better solution as I need to replace batteries.

I made new battery boxes and bolted them on the frame rails. I use two 12 volt truck batteries hooked in parallel, these do have a few more CCA's then the original batteries. I made new 2/0 battery cables and took the negative lead right to the bolt that holds the starter on the tractor. It is night and day differecne in starting especially in the middle of January.

I use two 12V batteries and change the cables.
Keeps the original look.

You now have 2 3EH batteries in series. Get 2 3EE batteries and connect them in parallel. That is what I do to all of my tractors that come with 6V batteries. 3EH are 6V and 3EE and 3ET are both 12V. The 3ET is a little taller. It depends how much room you have. This way it still looks original.
