4030 don't move

Found a 4030 tractor that runs good. Haven't had a chance to check it out. Owner said he was using it and got off for something and got back on and it wouldn't move. Quad range, shifter feels like it is going in gear, but don't go. He is a motivated seller. What could happen like that? No noise no nothing.

Do the hydraulics work(steering, 3 point)? If they quit at the same time it could be a transmission pump failure. There would be no oil to the clutch operating system. If the hyds still work, need to put a pressure gauge on the clutch test port and go from there.

I agree with Cliff to check hyd functions & pressures especially trans pump pressure. I suppose clutch engagement piston seal could have failed therefore no pressure would be applied to traction clutch disks.

Pinon shaft could have failed in differential, try engaging diff lock if so equipped to see if tractor will move

You could take the top link mount off remove the plug under it and see if the hex shaft for the pump is at least turning. I have seen this more than once.

Likely needs a clutch due to inadequate oil supply from charge pump. When you go to look at it see if it will creep forward some in A range.
