Went out and tried starting my4020.ot ran 5 min then quit and wouldn't start. Tracked down to what I thought was an injector pump problem. Had it rebuild and still wont start. Not getting fuel threw the return line and seems to be a whole loy of pressure building up In the fuel filters and tje main fuel line from the filters to the pump itself. that was same issue I had before pump rebuild and im fairly certain I got the air out and timing correct. 67 4020 diesel with roosa pump.thanks for any help im stumped here and not anybody left in my area that knows how to work on these 4020s anymore I can talk to

You won't see fuel from the return until it's ran long enough to fill the pump housing with fuel. Filter and inlet pressure is whatever the lift pump will produce. You can check that by pumping it up by using the hand primer. Did you bleed the lines at the injectors and get fuel there? Is there good clean fuel in the tank? I have seen more than once someone accidently put anti freeze in the fuel tank. 5 minutes is about when they quit after that. I would think the pump shop would have noticed a fuel issue.

Good fuel bout a quarter tank. Fuel at injectors. Theres a enormous amount of pressure when I take my filter loose or my line from filters to injector pump where fuel sprays out with a lot of force. I know that lift pump doesnt make that kind of pressure. Ive never taken my filter loose and get sprayed with fuel. I thought you still got a little fuel threw the return after xranking the engine a long time.

you could unhook return line from injection pump and blow air through it and listen In the tank you will here air blowing if its clear, I don't remember if some of those had a check valve in them at the injection pump or not. Is the lift pump working? Did you change the fuel filters?

and the pump needed to be took out correctly and put back in correctly by the timming marks??? threw that litlle window were the two screews are???

Took the return line and the filter housing and cleaned them and blew out and off real good. It seems the lift pump works when I use the primer it pushes fuel out. Changed the filters when all this started and tractor hasn't ran since
