JD 400 Ind. quits but starts right up

Hello! New to the site but am looking for some help. I have a 69 400 industrial gasser. Cousin to the 2020. Tractor starts and runs good but once in awhile it will instantly just shut off. It starts right up without choking and may run for hours or days. Seems to be electrical but since it starts right up it is tough to diagnose.. I have unhooked the 2.2 resistance wire from the key switch and hooked it to a push/pull so basically bypassed the key switch while running. Going to try a coil and set of points but am hoping someone can possibly give me some ideas. Seems there are some very knowledgable guys on this forum so any help is welcome! Used to be a mechanic for about 20 years and know how tough these intermittent things can be to find, just hate to throw parts at it..
 
Does this machine have the anti-dieseling solenoid on the carbuerator? Its just a guess as its hard to see it from here but wonder if there is an intermittent open in the circuit that feeds it. Doesn't really explain why it will restart right away though

Solenoid was removed and has a manual adjustment. Did find the points tension spring was not quite in place and the coil and condenser wire connection was somewhat loose. See someone put some electrical tape on the terminal so I am now thinking maybe it could be shorting out as when I put in new points and condenser and tightened the screw to hold the wires tight it grounded out the points. Must be some insulator missing. Anyway loosened the screw and then had spark. Any ideas on what insulates the points,condenser and coil wire?
