John Deere Quick Hitch for Late Model 4020

I know the later model quick hitches are beefier than the early models and have levers instead of push down handles. Does a Jeffers or any other brands have levers as well. Some are convertible from Category 2 to Category 3? I want to make sure I'm buying a John Deere and not something else. Does anyone have a picture of a John Deere Category 2 quick hitch?

Have a John Deere Cat 2 quick hitch on my 4020. Can only take pics with my phone but can't put them them on here as I have no way to transfer them to this lap top, but can send them to a phone number which I have done in the past. Any help appreciated.

This is JD Cat.II Cast iron, lever style quick hitch , Made 71' - 72' & later, JD quit making Q. hitch's in 70's; & sold Jeffers & others as JD , They were welded steel...

download the 4020 parts catalog from the deere website, and starting on page 60-10 there are four different quick hitches shown. There are two regular duty hitches, one with push down handles and one with levers, and two heavy duty hitches, one with push down handles and one with levers.

Jeffers and Sturdy Built both have Levers also. The is a fellow from Early Ia Gene Weitzel 712-660-8447 that refurbishes and sells many JD hitches. He has all the pins, levers ,warning tag and they are like new.I have sold him many. The newer ones JD sells that don't come from the factory are square steel.THe fist coupler came on 10 series and weighed about 90#s and had handles with nobs that would fill with dirt and one side would unhook and they would break or bend.JD had a pin kit to remedy that later and they had same coupler with levers. The one New Gen pictured also first came with handles and later switched to levers. The CAT II/III still come from the factory and the third link bolts on and the pin holes are CAT III.The Nice Jeffers bring up to $300 and factory JDs bring $4/500.The ones with out levers bring $100/150 less.I have a waiting list for ones pictured.

Good pictures from New Gen the last picture with warning plate is a nice size[90#] to handle for the tractor ride guys or collectors but the strength of the cast one is much better and almost unbreakable but I have seen some CAT II/III with broken sides.Just quessing I would say the cast ones weigh over 150#

I am not sure why the light one was even offered on the 4020. Kinda puny for 4020 IMO. They are about right for 2520s and 3020s though. Also good for show and keeping the 3pt arms from slapping back and forth.
