JD 70 taperlock flywheel

I have to remove the taper lock flywheel on my 70 diesel because of the oil slinger leaking. Do anyone have a copy of the instructions for removing and installing the flywheel that would have came with the flywheel? I've read some previous posts about them, so I have a pretty good idea what I'm in for. I just never had to work with them before and want to make sure it is done right. Also, does anyone know how heavy that flywheel is? Thanks

When I took the Taperlock off my 70D I just loosened the big nut (did not remove) tapped it some with a sledge hammer and it popped loose. MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE THE BIG NUT ON or you will have the flywheel on your toes. And it is heavy. I do not have the directions to put it on, you should Google them. Jim

. The installation instructions said to tighten the nut then hit the flywheel once with a sledge, tighten, hit once, tighten & repeat until you could not tighten the nut after striking the flywheel. To loosen, I just loosened the nut & hit the flywheel once, rotate it, hit it once, rotate it , hit it once and just kept repeating 'till it came loose.

Mark....John Deere 70 has explained the proper procedure below. Make sure you check the alignment marks on the crank and flywheel before you remove the fw. Sometimes the marks are hard to find especially if someone has hammered on the parts. Also, check the flywheel spacer face for wear (should have spiral grooves on the face) when you have it apart as that's important for setting end play when you put it back together. The seal that's leaking is inside that spacer. Make sure the drain channels in the thrust cover are not plugged.
