Broken Wheel Jack Screws On A 530

Have purchased a 530 with B3800 cast wheels which are the 36 inch size. Someone has broken both jack screws ( A-4882R ) off in the right hand cast hub. The 3 big 7/8 inch bolts that hold the wedge in place look okay.
Has anyone had experience with removing the wedges without jack screws and is there a process. Want to remove cast wheels from the axles to be able clean refurbish them so then they are operable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ellis

There is a good article in the September 2007 Green Magazine on page 52 on how to remove these castings. I tried it on my 720 and it works.

Is there any way that you could e-mail me a copy of that article? My GMs go back to 2006, but for some reason I am missing that particular copy. Thanks

I saw this on Ebay and saved a pic for "Just in case. . ."

I do not know and have no connection to the person selling this item.

you can melt the broken studs out after you remove the collar. You can make the item shown in the photo out of heavy pipe and they work good. If you get the weight off the wheel and just tap or jar the collar it should release. YOu will need to get the unadjuster side off then rotate the tire. but be careful. I would chain the wheel so it would fall. Very dangerous to do without a chain. Be very careful.....tks Chuck
