620 Power Steering

I've been reading past posts here about 620 power steering problems. Here's what I have. 1957 620. It steers fairly well to the right when cold. To the left not as good hot or cold. I jacked up the front end and it steers well to the right and with a slight hesitation fairly well to the left. When I drive it after it gets hot it does not steer well in either direction. All I've done so far is to fix a couple of leaks from the tubes to the pump/pedestal and to put JD power steering oil in it. I do have the steering manual (2050). Trying to decide what to check next.

Sounds like the valve needs centered. Your manual will walk you through it. Might also have worn pins or grooves in the steering valve. My 630 was steering a little hard at low RPM with a bale on the front loader, and I put a gauge on it to see what pressure it was making. Pressure was right on the money, so I opened up the flow control valve a little. It's back to steering like a new one again. Seems like the manual sez to open the flow control valve until the front wheels flutter, then back it off a touch. I opened it quite a bit, and no flutter. Steers easy with a bale out front.
