The best thing to do is try and find out the model number of what you are working with then go to JD Parts. They have full parts break outs which also typically lets you figure out how to mount something on the tractor.

The original was model 4200. Owner manual OMN19859. Parts is PC 289 which is also for the model 4220 culti which was for the 420/430, but would work on a 40T. Big diff was the LH lift which made it a lot easier to get on and off tractor. Manual will answer ??? George
