When starting my model 50 the throttle lever must be in the idle position after it starts I have to slowly move it forward or it will die is this a
carburetor adjustment problem?

Try holding down the sediment bowls top inlet button for a minute or two and see if it starts better. Bowl may be loosing gas and it needs to refill the bowl with gas while cranking before it will start. My 50 is the same way. A carb kit may help as well.

Does choking help? If choking does not help it could be weak spark. A bad condenser is the first thing to come to my mind.
