420 Hand Crank Dimensions?

Can anyone tell me the diameter of the rod that inserts into the crankshaft socket on a 420 JD? Also would like to know how long the nose end protrudes past the cross pin. I searched and found that the cross pin itself is 5/16" X 1 3/4", and figured I'd use a roll pin for that part. I want to make a straight shaft with a bolt head on it, and use a breaker bar to rotate the crankshaft. It will NOT be used to start the engine.

Thanks!
Paul

The rod is 3/4" in diameter.
Place the cross pin 1/2" from the inner end of the rod.
The rod has to be 13" long to clear the grill.

Thanks for the offer Jim - I'm in Southern Illinois. I think I can make one from JCarroll's description.

You don't by chance have the Crankshaft Jaw (M4150T ) for the hand crank do you? I would like to have one for my 420.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't think of using the PTO. What's nice about that is it will rotate either direction whereas the crank is forward only. I made a crank yesterday out of a 3/4" form pin.
