45 B shims on crankshaft

I am in need of some shims for proper clearance on the journals. I can make some out of 10.000 shim metal paper. Have any of you out there made your own before?
What is the torque on the journals supposed to be? My ITT manual does not tell me anything.

If your shim material is .010 as stated, this is too thick. You need shims from .001 to .002 for proper adjustment. It would be better if you could find a shim pack from a salvage tractor. The torque specifications for the rod bolts is 62.5 pounds feet. (foot pounds) Try to get the rod bearing clearance to .003.

The laminated shim packs, # B7R, are still available from DEERE, although DARNED pricey!

You could probably buy one and carefully peel some thin shims off of it to used with the ones you have.

Do you need them for the rods or mains? I have several for the rods from a unstyled B That i've been working on.

And your point is?????

I think it's pretty darned SWELL that parts that old are still available from the OEM!

Not to mention that the OEM is still around after nearly 180 years!

below is a post from you Bob, I guess $72 isn't too bad compared to this gas tank you posted about. Bill
