B Cam to govenor timing

Going to be setting the governor on the B soon. I have the cam and crank gears timed correctly.
Next is to have the cam timing dot up at 12:00 and the governor gear timing dot at 6:00, in line with each other, correct? Does it matter if the governor timing dot is at 12:00?
Then the flange for the mag should be horizontal. Then making sure the mag timing correctly.
Just what to make sure I am thinking about the is correctly.

As long as the Flywheel is on the correct spline,,,,,,,,The Crank to Cam is timed correct,,,,,,,,,,,,When the Flywheels Left Hand Impulse LHI is at 3 o clock mark lined with the mark on tractors side and the Left Piston is at TDC SET THE GOVERNOR TO CAM SO THE OPEN FEMALE DRIVE SLOT IN GOVERNOR SHAFT END (where mag mates) IS FLAT HORIZONTAL FORE AND AFT.......... Then the start impulse should snap RIGHT AS THE LHI PASSES 3 O CLOCK (IE left piston at TDC)

Actually it doesn't really make a difference where it is put. The difference will be where the mag is turned to to make it be in time. The marks just makes the mag look straight when timed.

When all was new and little wear and slop at TDC the mag was pretty well straight up n down and there was that adjustment window of around 5 to 10 degrees advance or retard in that slot in the mag so it could be rotated and fine tuned. Yep it (A Mag) can still be made to work if off to some extent by adjusting the lag angle and mags rotation, but that slot only allows for like 10 degrees of rotation. Of course if its a Delco Distributor it can be turned every way but loose lol

Yes, you are correct when you said the timing mark on the cam gear should be at 12:00 and the timing mark on the governor drive gear should at 6:00 so that the marks are inline with each other.

You're putting the governor back on and it's easy to put the two gears in time. Why are you considering having the governor timing mark at 12:00?
