According to the The John Deere 20 Series Two Cylinder Tractors by Benjamin Hain book the first 520 LP was 500017. Good find and good luck.

Good find. Is there some sheet metal missing around the fuel tank? Something looks to be missing.
Back in the day I wuz collecting that is about the shape of things I brought home, maybe a little more ruff.

There are 2 small pieces of sheet metal that go on each side of the tank I do have them. I am planning on putting a glass bowl air stack on it

great fine but looks like rain has been able to go in the ex pipe you will need new pistons at least and probably a block. good luck on restoring

Well, that's interesting. The "book" says first 520PL was 5200017. This tractor is said to be 520071. Strange coincidences, the numbers being so similar yet so far apart. Then too, consider that the Two-Cylinder card shows the first 520 being 5200000. I'd think a closer look at the tractor's SN plate might be warranted. Apparently the reported number is not right.
