Single Front End

Single wheels are the normal style of narrow front you see in my home area of SE Colorado and I have operated many. To me the biggest drawback is the difficult steering when not moving. On a regular dual front the two wheels can rotate about the center point, one forward and one backwards, but on a single front the contact patch must rotate in place and scrub the ground. You can sure tell if the tire air pressure drops off - it makes the problem even worse. Running the pressure at the maximum makes the steering easier but then the ride suffers.

One advantage is there seems to be less fighting of the steering wheel in rough ground since the single wheel doesn't apply as great a rotational force to backfeed through the steering system.

I will also add that the single front will find soft spots in the ground , but I like them, so get what you like and don't worry about it.
