Have unstyled 35 AR with no oil presure. I have installed new gears in pump and get just a decent stream of oil from line. Can't see anything wrong with bypass.. looks ok. Checked flow from filter head to red head gauge seams ok but won't lift gauge. Help me ...whats next ? Main bearings ? Thanks Randy

This was a running tractor with oil pressure before? Could be one of several things. Pump cover gasket too thick, not enough washers under by-pass spring, key fell out of shaft before drive gear was put back on, or a cracked/split/loose oil line. Does your governor have a pipe plug just below the red-head? Put a gauge in and see what it reads. At least we know it isn't a broken coupler!

On my 35 AR the oil line out of the pump had a bad packing, loosing most of the oil before it got to the filter.

Hi Randy, Mark and Zeke have some good info for starters. Here is a little more from personal experience. On my 35A I had to remove the pump gasket and use just sealer because of wear. The red head had been brazed tight and a cobbled up guage had been installed. I put this back to original. Make sure your red head is free in it s bore. The big item on mine was that the top of the oil filter canister was distorted from over tightening. It had to be removed and straightened. After all this was done I found that just getting it primed the first time was a whole nother job. There is a bunch of info in the archives on here on priming, overfilling, packing pump with grease etc. IMHO the pop-up works fine to tell you that you have oil pressure which I feel is more important than how much. Some folks just have all the fun! Good luck, VH

Ok ..to update. The tractor did have good oil pressure. Installed new pump gears. Replaced cover gasket with new paper thin one direct from deere. Added a washer to help spring pressure. So only thing I am sure of is everything at pump is good. I am getting oil flow from pump to filter head. So now I wonder if main bearing are a problem. Thanks
