830 three cyl. Opinions

A couple 830 three cylinders are coming up for auction and I
would appreciate any opinions.
The sale bill says that they are standard shift.

JD 830 3 cyl are nice utility tractors. They came only with a standard transmission with open center hyd's.

Take along a pack of coolant test strips. If the corrosion inhibitor is depleted. Allow for a set of sleeves in the budget at a future date.

Basically a 1020 with substandard hydraulics.

If someone put new antifreeze in a week ago your little coolant test strips won't tell you anything.Really does anyone but you make a buying decision based on a strip of paper?

Neighbor has had this 950 for sale - just bought it for $3,000.00 with 400 hrs on the engine. Going to pass on the 830.

Only early 820 was seven speed. All 830's were eight speed.Tom
