Power weight transfer hitch

I would like to hear from anyone who has used the power weight transfer hitch that JD came out with in 1969. Good bad or otherwise. I talked to a fellow in Arkansas a while back and he used one back in the day with a pull type scraper and said it was effective. I have one on a tractor that is complete but has never been used, looking for your experience with regular farm implements like a disc or chisel plow. Thanks for your reply.

I hope this works ok, picture of the power weight transfer hitch.

Thanks for posting pic.Have you actually used it? Used to be on mounted plows by using L&D control the three point became active.

Thanks for the picture of the implement rod Jim. I have 1 of those also. Do you have any idea on how to find out what the piece looks like that attaches that rod to the implement? As far as I know that is the only missing piece I do not have.

I tried unsuccessfully to locate the part on implement that link attaches to. Maybe someone will supply the part number

Those are a neat rig. I have the 1973 flyer for the 30 series that has a full page writeup on how they work. What was its downfall? Too complicated and involved to setup and use? Too expensive? Ineffective? Combination of all three?

After installing this on the tractor I think you are correct on all 3. It is a pretty complicated way to gain traction and I am sure most farmers decided wheel weights or liquid ballast was a better idea. It is however really neat since it is quite rare to see 1 of these hitches. I looked a long time before finding the one I have. I took this to Expo a couple of years ago and it was fun to show to some avid collectors that had never seen one except in pictures or parts books. I actually made a very good friend because of the hitch whom I probably would have never met otherwise.

SD GREEN & Jim : Power weight transfer hitch , used mostly with secondary tillage equip. BWF & B-series disks, [adapter bracket AB18484] see pic, also C-21 & 1000 field cult's [brackets N133816, '2 used'] ,F100H field conditioner, [brackets A17260 & A17261]; & similar equip. I don't think P.W.T.hitch was built with enough strength to work on heavy tillage equip. like 100 series chisel plow or TW & TWA plowing disk... I've only seen one complete, working on a BWF disk...

One of the highlights of this hobby, business,or just tractor fever is the people that you meet and do business with.I could fill a room with people that I consider tractor friends that I have never met in person and people even on this forum that I value their knowledge especially TimS.and Tx Jim.
